Case studies

Client:

A large UK based charity supporting aging people

Markets:

UK and Spain

Synopsis of Study:

The client was seeking to conduct a large qualitative study with elderly patients, caregivers of elderly patients and HCPs treating elderly patients to research how chronic pain in elderly patients is managed.

Sample:

10 caregivers and 15 HCPs across both markets.

How did LDA help?

  • Multiple recruitment avenues were used to screen and recruit the sample of 18 elderly patients across a range of ages from 65 years to 75+ years in both markets.
  • Respondents were verified with face-to-face meetings prior to recruitment in order to ensure that they were able to coherently speak about their experiences. This ensured that they were comfortable with the methodology of 60 minute IDIs.
  • Consideration was given to the respondents’ ages and, where necessary, the methodology was adapted on a personalised basis; incorporating breaks, patients accompanying their caregivers and/or splitting the interview into two shorter IDIs.
  • Full sample was met across both markets to provide the client with detailed insights from a range of stakeholders to underpin their development of patient-facing support materials.
